WESTWOOD, N.J. -- Expect everything to be "bigger and better" at Sogno and Caffe Anello in Westwood.
According to Alissa Napoletano Vitale, who, along with her husband John Vitale (and parents Joe and Cheryl Napoletano), runs the coffeehouse and restaurant -- as well as Johnny's Italian Market around the corner -- Caffe Anello had simply outgrown its space. So, they moved Sogno into Johnny's, which is literally doors away from the original location, giving it more of a Chelsea Market meets Arthur Avenue feel.
They are also in the midst of expanding the restaurant, literally doubling the space.
"It will be better because we can easily accommodate walk-ins and host bigger parties and events at Caffe Anello as well as offer a casual dinner menu at the Market which is something we couldn’t do in our original Sogno space,” she explained.
Caffe Anello is still open during construction and though Vitale didn't want to predict when it would be finished -- there are too many variables -- the goal is for it to be "soon" with no disruption to customers as all work is done during the day (the restaurant is only open at night).
She expects more good things on the horizon as Sogno is in the process of building on its current wholesale coffee roasting business. By increasing their capacity they are able to increase their capabilities to roast and distribute their product on a broader scope.
"The move has opened up some exciting opportunities to get our brand out to a bigger market share," she said.
Meanwhile, there's more to celebrate within the company as Sogno celebrates its fifth anniversary Friday, Nov. 17. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be a DJ, music, and samples of some of the coffeehouse's favorite goodies.
Cafe Anello is at 429 Broadway, 201-786-8137; Sogno is at now inside Johnny's Market at 48 Westwood Ave., 201-497-3628, www.caffeanello.com/ .
