Dorian Neacsu and his wife, Cecilia Coman, recently opened Ryan's BBQ on Stuyvesant Avenue in Lyndhurst, appropriately named after their almost 2-year-old son.

"It was love at first sight and then nothing else mattered," said Neacsu, who met his wife at a Romanian restaurant in Queens."We've put together a family and a restaurant."

Both hail from backgrounds in the food industry. Neacsu started as a busboy in 1999 when he moved to the U.S., and spent the following 20 years managing restaurants in New York City.

Coman worked on a cruise ship for eight years and then at New York City restaurants for another three.

Their restaurant is a modern take on barbecue.

"It's fusion barbecue — not like the regular barbecue place," Neacsu said. "We serve rotisserie chicken — cage free, all natural, no antibiotics — plus some mediterranean dishes like eggplant salad or hummus."

Menu items include balsamic baked mushrooms over fried grits, barbecued rib tips, quinoa salad with feta cheese and olives, Kase Kreiner sausage (pork and cheese), meatball and veggie soup and more.

RYAN'S BBQ IS LOCATED AT 239 STUYVESANT AVE., LYNDHURST.
