Valastro, known as the "Cake Boss," a Little Ferry native, turns 39 today.
Valastro, a baker, cake designer, and owner of well-known bakery Carlo's Bakery, was born March 3, 1977.
He started working in the family business at the age of 11, alongside his father in Carlo's Bakery. When his father died in 1994, Valastro was just 17 years old and had succeeded him as the new "Cake Boss."
Since then, the bakery has become very popular, and in April 2009, Valastro came out with the television show "Cake Boss," that has globally put him on the map for his artistically and creative cake adventures. Since then, he has become known as the Italian American celebrity chef, entrepreneur, and reality television personality.
Since the popularity of the television show, Valastro has opened seven more bakeries due to the ratings.
