The Boy Scout was a junior at North Lincoln High School in North Carolina, and a huge soccer fan.

Last month, he was airlifted from North Carolina to Texas Children's Hospital. He was denied a lung transplant nearly three weeks ago, and died soon after.

Doctors, friends and family members remembered Roman fondly.

“He always had a smile on his face and he made me laugh. He will be missed,” Nicole Rhyne wrote on a tribute page to the teen.

In lieu of flowers, Roman's family asks for donations to a GoFundMe page collecting funds to help with funeral expenses. To donate, click here.
