Dominick F. Leon, 88, Longtime Wood-Ridge Resident

WOOD-RIDGE, N.J. -- Dominick F. Leon, a longtime Wood-Ridge resident, died on Saturday, April 30. He was 88.

An Army Corporal in World War II, Leon worked for Truckers Teamsters Union Local 560 and was a self-employed contractor. He was an accomplished mason, carpenter and builder. He enjoyed stained glass work, his garden and his family.

Leon was active in the American Legion and the VFW post, both in Wood-Ridge. Until recently, he made trips to the VA Home in Paramus, to visit "the guys." He was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady, in Wood-Ridge, where he served as an usher and a member of the St. Anthony Knights of Columbus Council.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Ann; children Ralph, Steve, Mark, Laurie and Dominique; grandchildren Erin, Sarah, Jessica, Jessica and Scott; daughter-in-law Eileen Leon; great-grandchildren Gianna, Dominick, Jackson, Layla, Dylan, Cade, Liam, Ava, Charlotte, Emily, Erin and Meagan.

Leon was predeceased by his parents, Francisco and Antoinette Leon; brothers, brother-in-law and numerous aunts and uncles.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Ave., in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral will be at at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday from the funeral home, with a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady, in Wood-Ridge.
