John Jackie Moore Of Hasbrouck Heights

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — John Jackie Moore, of Hasbrouck Heights, died Tuesday, Oct. 25.

He was born in Jersey City to Edward and Julia Moore. He served with the U.S. Army Military Police during the Korean War.

Moore was awarded a football scholarship to Clemson University. His love of football continued and with the strong support of his family and friends, he coached high school football in Hudson and Bergen counties for more than 50 years. His achievements were many. One of his former players remarked “He taught us how to act not only on the field, but off the field as well.”

He was employed as a senior manager for Beneficial Finance for 37 years. He was a parishioner and an usher at St. Francis R.C. Church in Ridgefield Park and an adjutant for the American Legion Post 69 in Carlstadt.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Erin Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jaclyn and Thomas John; and sister, Eileen Wilson and her family.

There will be a funeral at 8:45 a.m. Monday at Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Liturgy at St. Francis R.C. Church, 114 Mt. Vernon St., Ridgefield Park. Interment following at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home, 1 Veterans Way, Paramus, NJ 07652 would be appreciated.
