HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Kevin J. Makely Sr., of Hasbrouck Heights, died on Wednesday, Feb. 10. He was 61.
Born in Jersey City, Makely was a mail handler for the U.S. Post Office in Jersey City and a member of the Mail Handlers Union. He was also a crossing guard for the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department.
He was a former coach for the Little League and a former Boy Scout Leader in Hasbrouck Heights.
Makely is survived by his wife, Michele (Muldoon) Makely; children Kevin and his wife Rebecca, Bryan, and Caitlyn; sisters Kathleen Iorio, and Joanne Curry and her husband John; grandchildren Colin and Brooke; sisters-in-law Maureen and Jane; brothers-in-law Mark and Philip; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Martha Makely.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Ave., in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral will be from the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13. A 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy will be held at Corpus Christi Church, in Hasbrouck Heights. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, in North Arlington.
