Lois M. Nitus, 89, Hasbrouck Heights Resident

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Lois M. Nitus, of Hasbrouck Heights, died on Thursday, Dec. 22. She was 89.

Before she retired in 1983, Nitus was a secretary at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hasbrouck Heights for 30 years. Before that, she was a medical secretary for Bristol Meyers in New York City.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and she was a member of its choir and the WELCA group. She was also a member of the REACH Program, the Leisure Club and the Woman's Club, all in Hasbrouck Heights. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and oil painting.

Nitus is survived by her daughter, Gail Heck and her husband Robert; granddaughter Jennifer Pennisi and her husband Joseph; and great-grandchildren Alyssa and Joseph.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Nitus; parents George and Margaret Dauenheimer; and brother Charles Dauenheimer.

The funeral was this past Saturday, from Costa Memorial Home, in Hasbrouck Heights, to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She is interred at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
