Mario R. Allotta, 81, Of Hasbrouck Heights

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Mario R. Allotta, 81, of Hasbrouck Heights and formerly of Garfield, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

Born in Garfield to the late Laurence and Rosa Allotta, he was a graduate of Garfield High School and a past president of its National Honor Society.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was the owner of Sparkle Dry Cleaners in Glen Rock. He was a past president of the Hasbrouck Heights Junior Football League.

Allotta was the husband of Rose Marie (nee DiPiazza) Allotta; they were high school sweethearts. He also was the father of Lawrence Allotta and his companion Rosemarie Pietranera, Thomas Allotta and his wife Donna and the late Rosemary Allotta. He also is survived by a daughter-in-law Diane Allotta; was the brother of Frances Sarchio, Laurence Allotta and predeceased by four brothers and two sisters; and was the grandfather of Lorenzo, Tyler, Vincent and Dylan.

His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights followed by a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church, Hasbrouck Heights. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to Corpus Christi R.C. Church or to the John Theurer Cancer Center in his memory would be appreciated.
