HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Mary Janet Rubino (Olson), a Hasbrouck Heights resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 10. She was 76.
Rubino is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas; her sons; Jeffrey and his wife Sue, Gregory; a granddaughter, Kayla; sisters, Virginia "Ginger" Hachadourian and Katharine Vander Weit; brothers, Arthur Olson and Eric Olson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Rubino grew up in Elmwood Park, (then East Paterson), where she attended local schools and graduated from Lodi High School in 1957. She was a New Jersey registered nurse for nearly 55 years following her graduation from Seton Hall University in 1961, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She later earned a Master's Degree in Nursing from the Teacher's College at Columbia University.
She was a delivery nurse at Hackensack University Medical Center for many years, and a nurse educator at Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing, where she also served as the director for several years. She later served as a nursing faculty member at Bergen Community College for 25 years, including four years as assistant director of the nursing program.
There will be a funeral service at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Costa Memorial Home on Boulevard and Central Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. There will be a funeral liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi R.C. Church in Hasbrouck Heights. Cremation following at Cedar Lawn Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society 20 Mercer St. Hackensack, NJ 07601 would be appreciated.
