Patricia Durkin Beard, 56, Wood-Ridge Resident

WOOD-RIDGE, N.J. -- Patricia Durkin Beard, a Wood-Ridge resident, formerly of Pennington, died Sunday, Jan. 10. She was 56.

Beard graduated Montclair State University in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in broadcasting. She went on to a career in freelance television production and direction.

Active in her community, Beard served two terms as president of the Princeton Day School Parents Association and concentrated her philanthropic efforts into Princeton-area arts organizations.

Beard is survived by her husband, David D. Beard; children David Andrew and Christopher James; parents John and Grace Durkin; sisters Maureen McCormick and her husband David, and Carol Trinker and her husband Michael; brother-in-law Fred Beard and his wife Dorothy.; and nieces Faith Trinker, Susan Sobkowicz, Debra Curran and Lisa Hagy.

Visitation hours are from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Ave., in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home. A funeral liturgy from Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady Wood-Ridge will be at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington.
