Robert E. Philburn Sr., 84, Hasbrouck Heights Resident

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS N.J. -- Robert E. Philburn Sr., of Hasbrouck Heights, died on Saturday, Feb. 18. He was 84.

Born in Kearny, Philburn was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Before he retired, he co-owned Butterworth Liquor and Deli in Hasbrouck Heights for more than 50 years. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 1962, in Hasbrouck Heights.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Griner and her husband William of Saddle Brook, and Robert Philburn Jr. and his wife Donna of Lake Worth, Florida; grandchildren Sara Griner, and Robert Szczesniak and his wife Stephanie; and siblings Warren Philburn and his wife Marian of Hasbrouck Heights, and Marion Hughes of Port Orange, Florida.

Philburn was preceded by his wife, Josephine (Traczyk) Philburn; parents Ernest and Mary Philburn; and brother-in-law George Hughes. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Ave., in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow, at Holy Cross Cemetery, in North Arlington.
