Vincent Ascione Jr., 88, Hasbrouck Heights Resident

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Vincent Ascione Jr., of Hasbrouck Heights, died on Thursday, Jan. 12. He was 88.

Born in Brooklyn, Ascione was an Amy veteran of World War II. Before he retired, he was a crane operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 14 and 14B in New York City.

He was a member of the James B. Scarr American Legion Post 106, in Hasbrouck Heights.

Ascione is survived by his children, Lenore Ascione-Lohman and Vincent Ascione III; siblings Eugene and Ralph Ascione, Louise Cresci, and Mary Armao; grandchildren Melissa Burke, Amanda Ruth Yeu and her husband David, and Gina Ascione; and great-grandchildren Evelyn Rose and Annie Rose Yeu.

He was predeceased by his wife Audrey (Jones) Ascione; parents Vincenzo and Raffaela Ascione; and his brother Frank.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, at Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Ave., in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral will be from the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, with an 11 a.m. funeral liturgy from St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, in Ramsey. Interment will follow, at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Goshen.
