Walter J. Zydel, 95, Of Hasbrouck Heights

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Walter J. Zydel, of Hasbrouck Heights, died Aug. 24. He was 95.

Born in Secaucus, he was the son of the late John and Adele Zydel. He settled in Hasbrouck Heights in 1958.

During World War II, Zydel proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

Prior to his retirement, he was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 25.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 70 years, Dorothy A. (nee Diekhaus) Zydel; children, Linda S. Rinaldi and her husband Frank, Robert W. Zydel and Thomas E. Zydel and his wife Mary; and his grandchildren, Frank C. Rinaldi and his fiance Sara, Thomas W. Zydel and his wife Jordan and Kaitlyn R. Zydel.

There will be a funeral at 9 a.m. Monday at the Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights followed by a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 218 Washington Place, Hasbrouck Heights. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
