Frank’s family was at his side during his passing following a battle with cancer.
He was 66.
Born in Jersey City, Frank moved with his family to Wood-Ridge as a child. After being graduated from Wood-Ridge High School in 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served on active duty before beginning a law enforcement career that spanned more than four decades.
He joined the Wood-Ridge Police Department in 1971 and rose through its ranks to become chief in 1986.
After retiring in 2000, he became a special assistant to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, as well as director of the Narcotics Task Force.
He was still working as the Assistant Director of Security for the Bergen County Police Department, which he joined three years ago.
Frank was a member and past president of the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association.
He was predeceased by his parents, John J. and Dorothy (nee McCarthy) Frank, and a brother Thomas Frank.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda (nee Naclerio); his daughters, Mary Kate Frank of New York and Karen Frank of Hasbrouck Heights, and six siblings: Mary Ann Quince of Atlantic City, Kathleen Dabrowski of Califon, Margaret Hill of Kunkletown, PA, James Frank of Berkeley Heights, Theresa Frank of Bedminster and Kevin Frank of Rio Rancho, NM.
The memorial Mass is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Assumption of Our Blessed Lady Church in Wood-Ridge, followed by burial of his ashes in Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Frank’s name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
