Break Floods Little Ferry Crossing, Crews Seek Shutoff Valve

LITTLE FERRY, N.J. -- Authorities were trying to find the shutoff value after a water main burst early this afternoon, flooding the intersection of Route 46 and Bergen Turnpike in Little Ferry.

"It looks like they covered the shutoff when they repaved Route 46," Little Ferry Police Chief Ralph Verdi told Daily Voice just before 1:30 p.m. "They're out there looking for it.

"It wasn't a construction accident," the chief said. "A main just let go."

The intersection at what was once the LIttle Ferry circle was closed as police detoured traffic.
