A 21-year-old woman and 19-year-old man told police they were walking in the area of Getty and Clifton avenues on Monday when a robber on a bicycle rode up and assaulted the woman while trying to snatch her phone, Lt. Robert Bracken said.

The bandit "made threats to both the victim and her friend before fleeing on his bicycle on Clifton Avenue toward First Street," Bracken said.

A few hours later, a 36-year-old Passaic woman told police two men who appeared to be in their 20s pushed her to the ground and took her cellphone in the 100 block of Center Street, Bracken said.

"She sustained injuries to the forehead and back and sought medical attention on her own," he said.

Anyone with information on either incident was asked to contact the Clifton Police Department Detective Division: (973) 470-5908. Callers can remain anonymous, Bracken said.
