Electrical fire sends smoke through Ridgefield Park office building

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Ridgefield Park office building was evacuated after an electrical fire began filling it with smoke.

Workers at 100 Challenger Road said the fire in the main electrical room knocked out power to the eight-story building.

“It was completely black,” one of them told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

People were evacuated from the building in Overpeck Center, overlooking Overpeck Park, beginning around 8:20 this morning, another said.

Fire trucks from Ridgefield Park, Bogota and Little Ferry quickly arrived, along with ambulances, but no injuries were reported.

PSE&G was on the scene.

A firefighter at the scene said workers probably won’t be going back in today.
