HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Hasbrouck Heights this year joined the ranking of the 100 Safest Cities in the U.S. by a national security company.
Coming in at No. 66, the Heights "is only about 30 minutes away from the big city but has a small town feel residents have come to love," Safewise.com reports.
"Recently, Hasbrouck Heights banned the use of plastic bags to hold recyclable items in an attempt to cut down on unnecessary waste," it adds. "To provide more for struggling members of the community, Hasbrouck Heights has an active food bank that often calls for donations to help feed those who are hungry."
Safewise compiled crime statistics from the FBI and conducted its own research on public safety public health, and educational offerings to determine its rankings.
