Hasbrouck Heights Police Catch Burglar In Act, Thanks To Neighbor's Call

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. -- Hasbrouck Heights police said they caught a Clifton man inside a burglarized home thanks to an alert neighbor.

Police who responded to a call of a man climbing into a Kipp Avenue basement window spotted an open rear door and found Erik J. Baran, 47, inside, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri told Daily Voice.

Baran was being held on $30,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence.
