Officer Andrew Soltes pulled the vehicle over on Madison Avenue just before midnight Wednesday when the driver, 25-year-old Matthew Rigert of Long Island, failed to use a turn signal, Detective Sgt. Justin Fox told Daily Voice.

The car also had equipment violations, Fox said.

Soltes smelled raw marijuana after approaching the car, the sergeant said.

A search turned up pot in the center console, as well as vacuum-sealed bags in the trunk, he said.

Rigert, of Deer Park, was issued a court summons charging him with two marijuana possession offenses -- one with the intent to distribute -- and a possession of drug paraphernalia count.

He also received five motor vehicle summonses before being released pending a court date.
