YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A man who Wood-Ridge police said told them he was being followed and videotaped had a collection of guns, knives and dozens of other weapons — including tomahawks, spears and bows — along with more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition in his house, authorities said today.
Police made the discovery after becoming concerned over a 20-page letter the emotionally troubled man gave them when he walked into headquarters, Detective Joseph Rutigliano Jr. told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .
After taking him to Bergen Regional Medical Center for an evaluation, they said, they obtained a search warrant and found:
4 handguns;
3 rifles;
a shotgun;
a crossbow;
a compound bow;
2 long bows;
30 arrows;
2 tomahawks
several throwing knives;
a knife throwing stick;
7 spears;
more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition, including hollow-point rounds.
Police are investigating.
Meanwhile, “the guns are currently in our possession for safe keeping,” Rutigliano said.
