Officers Patrick Devins and Collin Journey pulled over the 2003 Honda sedan around 5:30 p.m. Monday as the driver abruptly changed lanes and crossed a solid white line headed to the lower level of the GWB in Fort Lee, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo told Daily Voice.

Devins and Journey "immediately spotted modifications to the Honda that indicated a hidden compartment," Pentangelo said.

Haniel E. Saldana, 28, of Newark consented to a search that turned up the loaded Glock pistol, he said.

Saldana then tried to run and was grabbed by the officers, who arrested him and had the Honda impounded, Pentangelo said.

Saldana was charged with weapons possession, resisting arrest, careless driving and making an unsafe lane change.
