Ridgefield Park 15-month-old flown to St. Barnabas with second-degree burns

UPDATE: A 15-month-old Ridgefield Park girl was flown to St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston with second-degree burns over 30% of her body this afternoon after being scalded by a fallen bowl of soup, emergency workers said.

A medical helicopter landed at McKeown around 3 p.m. and flew the toddler to the hospital, saving precious time.

By land, it would have taken some 40 minutes, “even with lights and sirens,” one emergency worker said.

The child’s condition couldn’t be determined this evening.
