The BP attendant told police the pair pulled up to the Route 46 station around 3:30 a.m. in a dark sedan, possibly a Nissan or Honda, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

One of them asked for change but he said he didn’t have any, Foligno said.

“The vehicle then made a U-turn and the front seat passenger exited the vehicle and demanded money,” the chief said.

The attendant tried covering his pocket, which contained cash, and was struck in the face with a closed fist, Foligno said.

The robber also stabbed him, possibly with an ice pick, in the upper left arm, the left leg and the abdomen area, he said.

The robbers then fled with the cash.

The attendant described his assailant as white or Hispanic, between 30-40 years old, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and wearing a gray hoodie.

“The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time,” Foligno said Tuesday afternoon. “Detectives are continuing the investigation and are reviewing surveillance video footage from the area.”

Callers may remain anonymous, the chief said, adding that the robbers “should be considered armed and dangerous.”
