The siblings have driven to school together, sat next to each other in class, helped each other with homework and pushed each other to close out their college careers with 4.0 grade point averages.

“When I saw Angela having a 4.0, she challenged me to have a better GPA than her, so I studied as much as possible,” explained Michael, 23, who along with his sister Angela, 21, will be graduating from Berkeley College in May.

They both took classes on Berkeley's Paramus and Woodland Park campuses.

While the pair – graduates of St. Mary’s High School in Rutherford -- have been supporting each other through college, they said they weren’t always so close.

“We’re close in age, but we never got to sit together in a classroom and have the same workload, so it’s like seeing each other in a different light that brought us closer,” said Angela.

“Just the fact of being able to help each other in school brought us that much closer,” Michael said.

Jennifer Litvak, director of student development and campus life of Berkeley College in Paramus, got to know Angela and Michael through the events she organized to recognize students on the Dean’s List and President’s List.

“They have been attending the event every semester,” she said.

Litvak said the thing about them that impressed her most is how “they motivate each other to succeed and bring out the best in one another.”

Angela, who will be graduating with a bachelor’s in accounting, said after graduation she plans to study for her CPA exam, work full-time, and go back for her master’s degree part-time.

Michael who will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business management, already has a job lined up at Enterprise.
