"I always see commercials and often hear and read about [the events], said Hasbrouck Heights Offensive Coordinator Adam Baeira. "So I figured, 'Why not host one of these at our field? It's the perfect location for it."

The free Aug. 21 event, hosted by the Anti Bully Squad and Gridiron State Football, will begin at 9 a.m. at Depken Field.

It is open to children ages 6-15.

"If we can get kids outside doing physical activities – even for only an hour – then we have done our job," said Anti Bully Squad Co-Founder Tom Peterson. "We also like the fact that we can reach so many kids all at once to hear our message about having good character and bully awareness."

Each participant is allowed one punt, one pass and one placekick as part of his or her competition, according to the rules. Scores are based on both distance and accuracy.

"There's some talented youth kids in this area. I would love to see a young kid from around here advance to the next round and participate in a bigger venue such as MetLife Stadium," Baeira said.

Play 60 is a campaign to encourage kids to be active for 60 minutes a day in order to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity, according to its website.

"Parents can sit back, relax and watch their kids compete," said "Coach Bear."

Baeira of Gridiron State Football previously teamed with the ABS for a youth football camp, which ran from July 11-14.
