RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall is touring the country and makes a stop in Ridgefield Park May 19-23.
The wall will be displayed at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park. This is the first time the wall has been here since 2006 and the only time it will be in the tristate area.
The Division of Veterans Services, County of Bergen, is sponsoring “The Moving Wall visits Bergen County.”
There will be an opening ceremony on May 19 at approximately 5 p.m. The site will be available for visiting from 7 a.m.–10 p.m.
The Moving Wall is the half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC and has been touring the country for over 30 years. Two structures of The Moving Wall now travel the USA from April through November, spending about a week at each site.
This commemoration is to,
- Help bring healing to veterans, families, and friends of those who died or are missing in Vietnam. This event will give an opportunity to those who may not be able to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC.
- Help educate the community about the war in Vietnam, its impact on the US and its veterans.
