Prosecutor: Hasbrouck Heights Man Severely Injures Eye Of Boy, 4

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. – A Hasbrouck Heights technician was ordered held on $145,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail after authorities charged him with injuring a 4-year-old boy’s eye.

Mahedi H. Khan, 24, was charged with aggravated assault, child endangerment and illegal weapons possession, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Monday.

Hasbrouck Heights police notified the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit that the boy had been taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with severe injury to his eye, Grewal said.

A joint investigation of the unit and borough police led to the arrest Saturday, he said.

A Nov. 23 first appearance was scheduled in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
