HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — Softballers from Maywood, Rochelle Park, Upper Saddle River, Little Ferry, Dumont and Lodi will flock to Hasbrouck Heights for the sixth annual 8U Softball Classic on Sunday, May 22.
This round-robin tournament offers a day of sportsmanship and friendly competition for over 70 eight-year-olds representing six different programs.
The day kicks off with a parade of teams, followed by opening ceremonies, national anthem, introduction of players and the ceremonial first pitch. The tournament ends with closing ceremonies.
The six teams will play three games over the course of the day. Each game is coach-pitch, coach-catch. The day provides the girls a chance test their skills and play against other towns
Hasbrouck Heights Little League established the 8U Classic in 2011. It was created to provide 8 year-old girls an opportunity to play in a tournament-style competition against other teams before transitioning to the more competitive recreational softball program.
The Hasbrouck Heights LIttle League is located at Oldfield Avenue.
